I was an actor and had to retire as I became a full time carer for my mother who had Dementia, so to amuse myself and my friends with children I wrote some children’s books, all of which are suitable for readers aged from 5 to 8 years of age and are available on Amazon.
Following on from the children’s books I wrote a radio play Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori which told of the horrors and occasional lighter moments of World War One, it was produced by The Wireless Theatre Company and is available on line, this spurred me on to write a book of plays The Plays Wot I Wrote also available on Amazon.
During a chance encounter at a small World War Two airfield museum I came across the story of The Battle of Barking Creek which was an astounding tale of what we now call, a friendly fire incident, which happened on day three of the war in which two of our airmen were shot down resulting in the death of one of them. The play is based on the Courts Martial of those involved and as such would make a very good low budget theatre production, or a rather fabulous feature film should you have access to the mega bucks required for this sort of project!
My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which originally told of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie, but has now developed a broader outlook and covers anything I wish to whinge about and some which look on the brighter side of life.
